While I do love a good cocktail, sometimes during the week, it is nice to have a beverage sans alcohol. I am more productive, sleep better, and can avoid headaches when I make a refreshing ‘mocktail’ instead of cocktail. However, if you are in the mood for something to take the edge off, you could easily make this mocktail into a cocktail by adding some tequila or vodka. Both would be delightfully refreshing!
This is one of my favorite beverages to enjoy while having any type of delicious Mexican food. It is a little spicy, so if you don’t tolerate spice, this may not be for you. However if you like to live on the spicy side, like me ; ), then cheers!
This mocktail is refreshing with a punch of flavor. Great afternoon or evening beverage.
- 1/3 c. Granulated Sugar
- 1/3 c. Water
- 2 Jalapeños Slice Thin
- 1 Lime Cut into 4 Wedges
- 4 c. Soda Water Could Substitute for Lime La Croix
In medium size saucepan heat sugar, water, and 1 jalapeño sliced (seeds can be removed to tame the spice) over medium/high heat until it begins to boil. Then reduce and simmer for about 5-8 minutes or until all of the sugar is absorbed. Then remove from heat, and let cool for 10-15 minutes.
In cocktail glass, fill half way with ice. Add 2-3 tbsp of simple syrup, juice of 1 wedge of lime, 1 c. of soda water, and a few slices of jalapeño.
